New Comment Period for Rico-West Dolores Travel Management Plan

The Dolores Public Lands Office has published a new opportunity to comment on the preliminary Rico-West Dolores Travel Management Plan Environmental Assessment (EA). The deadline is now June 22, 2009.

This EA proposes to designate routes open to summer motor-vehicle use on Forest Service lands near Rico and Dunton. Forest Service lands covered in the plan include Bear Creek, Taylor Mesa, Roaring Fork, federal lands surrounding Rico, Black Mesa, and Stoner Mesa areas. In addition to designating routes for summer motor-vehicle use, the plan also addresses other issues, such as dispersed camping and day-use parking. The plan does not address or change access related to winter recreational use of these areas.

A copy of the Preliminary EA is available for public review upon request by calling the Dolores Public Lands Office at 970-882-7296. The EA is also available on the Forest website at http://www.fs.fed.us/r2/sanjuan/projects/projects.shtml.

For information on the new comment deadline or other information, please contact the Dolores Public Lands Office at 970 882-7296.

Comments can be mailed to Steven K. Beverlin, Manager, Dolores Public Lands Office, 29211 Hwy. 184, Dolores, CO 81323, or faxed to Attn: Penny Wu (970) 882-6841, or emailed to : comments-rocky-mountain-san-juan-mancos-dolores@fs.fed.us
