Wickenburg Trail Opportunities with the BLM
January 2nd, 2009

BLUERIBBON COALITION ACTION ALERT!

Dear BRC Action Alert Subscriber,

Wickenburg Trail Opportunities with the BLM

The Town of Wickenburg, Arizona, along with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is working on developing a master trail plan for the region centered on Wickenburg. The Wickenburg Conservation Foundation in cooperation with the BLM is starting the process by producing a preliminary plan for about a 25-mile radius around the town.

The BLM is looking for your input for motorized and non-motorized trails, user preferences and priorities for trailheads, corridors, and destinations, regardless of land ownership. The Wickenburg Regional Trail Planning Open House is being held on January 7, 2009, from 3:00 pm to 7:00pm, at the Wickenburg Community Center, 160 North Valentine Street.

Will your favorite trails be protected?
* Ensure your trail corridors & networks are inventoried
* Prioritize your most critical corridors/networks
* Talk to agencies & organizations involved with the trails

Please try to attend the Open House and if you know of persons or clubs in the area, who would be interested in participating, please pass the word along to them.

For more details and maps of the area proposed, contact Dave Konopka, Trails Planner, Wickenburg Conservation Foundation in cooperation with the BLM Hassayampa Field Office at (623) 580-5644 or by email to david_konopka@blm.gov. You may also contact, Mary Skordinsky, Bureau of Land Management, Lead Outdoor Recreation Planner, 21605 North 7th Avenue, Phoenix, AZ, 85027, at (623) 580-5586.

JUST REMEMBER, PUBLIC INVOLVEMENT IS CRUCIAL TO KEEP RECREATION AREAS OPEN, PLEASE GET INVOLVED!
